Our meeting is held in the main Hall at the Cause centre which is in fact the original Chippenham Quaker Meeting House and dates back to the 17th Century.
Quaker focus is on experience rather than written statements of belief. Meetings are held in silence to help discover a deeper sense of God’s presence within the world and ourselves. However, it is also the case that Quakers vary in their personal beliefs. Many are Christian. Some are inspired by other traditions and there are some who are atheist. We come together in our shared values of Simplicity, Truth, Equality and Peace.
Quakers have a long history of working for peace, disarmament, prison reform, the abolition of slavery, women's suffrage and much more.
We lead lives of tolerance, fellowship and kindness. We exclude no one in our broad understanding of community. All are welcome.
